Which concrete pigments to choose: expert advice

To understand which dye to add to concrete, you need to understand their types. They all differ not only in composition, but also in the method of addition. Additionally, each of them has its own characteristics, which provides an opportunity for the high-quality implementation of the assigned task.

Concrete dye consumption and its types

In total, there are three key types of coloring agents.

They have different compositions and application methods.

  1. Acid-based. This option is supplied in powder form and has a large color palette. The feature of this product type is that before application, it is diluted in acid, and coloring is carried out on the finished product. The acid, together with the pigment, eats into the concrete structure and firmly grips with it. Such options make it possible to make multi-colored staining with a stable base.
  2. Acrylic. This product is produced on an acrylic basis. It has a liquid consistency and is also applied directly to the surface of the finished product. This type of dye is decorative and protective. It is resistant to fuels and lubricants, sun, precipitation, and other negative factors. At the same time, it is completely safe and does not emit toxic fumes. Therefore, it can also be used for interior work. Also, this product is resistant to low temperatures and does not crack.
  3. Dry. Such additives to concrete are introduced directly at the mixing stage. They are evenly distributed throughout the mixture and are not washed out of it, as they firmly grip during hardening. This option provides the brightest, but monochromatic design. Intensity is regulated by the volume of added pigment. Upon drying, color rendition becomes significantly higher.

To ensure that colors do not lose their intensity and are juicy, you can choose a white brand of concrete for work. It has the same properties as the usual type of mixture, but coloring looks much better on it.
