Vacuum molding of plastic is one of the ways to make injection molds on an industrial scale. The production process has its own characteristics, which makes it possible to perform the work qualitatively. To understand the whole essence of production, you need to understand the process of molding and preparation for it.
What is a vacuum molding in Kharkiv
Vacuum molding requires special equipment, which is designed to form the plastic in the desired form, and the process takes place as quickly and qualitatively as possible. This is achieved due to the fact that in the process of forming the plastic in the sheet heats up, and then, due to the exhaustion of air, fits the delivered mold or matrix. It fits snugly to the surface, which ensures high accuracy in the transfer of dimensions, textures and features.
This technique is used to perform a large number of production tasks:
- making molds for pouring various elements;
- production of tools for confectionery and decorative purposes;
- in the automotive industry;
- in the field of medicine;
- for forming parts of non-standard shapes and sizes.
The cost of vacuum forming is low. This leads to the fact that many firms immediately order a wholesale batch of parts that are identical due to the use of the same matrix.
How the matrix is made
In order for the final product to have the desired appearance, it is necessary to make a shape, the dimensions and appearance of which will take plastic. Therefore, the manufacture of molds for vacuum forming includes a number of steps:
- To begin with, the material for the mold is selected. It can be made from MDF, resin, multilayer plywood, or fiberglass.
- The customer submits drawings with the necessary parameters of the product, which are entered into the base of the CNC machine. A material for cutting is installed on it, from which, according to the specified parameters, the desired shape is turned.
Since a CNC machine is used for production, additional mold refinement is not needed. It can go right into the case.
The advantage of this form of molding is the possibility of fast production of identical plastic products in large quantity in a short period of time. At the same time the client can order different positions, and it will not be costly, since reprogramming the CNC-machine will not be very difficult.
Before the order is sent, workers must make a product adjustment. This is because the extra plastic on the edges of the mold is trimmed and sharp edges appear. They are traumatic, therefore, to eliminate them, the product is additionally polished. In this case, the form itself is not processed.
