Curb molds: a simple way to manufacture products

Curbs have become an essential element not only in road construction but also in landscape design. Curbs allow you to harmoniously complete the design, neatly and aesthetically complementing the entire picture. Very often, curbs are used as space dividers into specific zones, and sometimes for designing flower beds or paths. Due to the fact that curbs can be made independently, they are in high demand. Let's look at how to make a curb mold with your own hands.

Making Curbs at Home

Curbs help preserve the integrity of the road surface. That is why they are very important in work. But to get a curb cheaply, without spending time searching and selecting a finished option, you can buy a mold and manufacture the product yourself. Independent production will cost much more cheaply, since the composition of the curb includes sand, cement, and water. All you need to do is create a mixture in the appropriate proportions and pour it into the mold. You can independently adjust the height, width, and thickness of the finished product based on your needs.

Pros and Cons of Using Curb Molds

Using molds for independent curb production has a number of pros and cons. Among the advantages - such products turn out to be much cheaper than ready-made ones in the store. You can choose the exact mold that you need. You do not need the help of specialists to install curb fencing. Not much knowledge in this area and experience is required, so everyone can solve this task.

Among the cons - there are minor nuances that need to be considered when working with curbs. For example, a clear ratio of components, or complete drying of the product before operation.

Features of Using Curb Molds

Molds for creating curbs come in three types - wooden, steel, plastic. The main thing that distinguishes them from each other is the material used in the creation process. Plastic molds are created using polypropylene. They can be used to create road, sidewalk, and highway types of curbs. The main distinguishing feature is the presence of correct geometric parameters and a glossy inner surface. Compared to other molds, plastic molds are lightweight, quite compact, which makes them universal. You can work with such a mold under any conditions, no additional equipment is required. Thanks to the polypropylene used to create such a mold, it becomes quite elastic.

Creating a Mold with Your Own Hands

In order to make a mold with your own hands, you must first prepare - screws (approximately 30 pcs), a screwdriver, timber blocks, a sheet of metal (can be replaced with plywood), and a board. Remember that work must be performed on a flat surface covered with polyethylene. To obtain a smooth curb surface, the board must be processed well.

So, the creation of the curb is performed in the following order:

  1. Timber blocks are connected in the form of a frame, the fastening points are fixed with screws and steel brackets.
  2. Using a sheet of metal or plywood, the bottom of the mold is created.
  3. Using pebbles, crushed stone, or pieces of ceramics, it is necessary to decorate the outer part of the mold.

The mold is ready, after which the mixture is simply poured and given time to dry completely. In our store, there is a ready-made curb mold of various sizes as well as various concrete additives. For advice, you can contact our managers.
