Anti-shrink slabs for monuments: why they are needed and how to use the moulds

Anti-settling slabs under monuments are important elements that ensure the longevity and stability of monuments installed in cemeteries. These boards prevent monuments from settling and warping over time, which is an important factor in maintaining their integrity and aesthetic appearance.

Why do you need anti-shrink boards?

Anti-shrink slabs play a key role in monument installation because they:

  • Prevent soil subsidence: Over time, the soil under the monument can settle, especially in conditions of constant humidity. This causes the monument to warp or even fall over. Anti-sagging slabs distribute the weight of the monument more evenly, minimising the risk of subsidence.
  • Provide stability: the anti-shrinkage slab creates a solid base that prevents the monument from moving or tilting. This is especially important in areas with frequent precipitation or unstable soils.
  • Preserve appearance: the slabs help to preserve the original appearance of the monument for many years, protecting it from deformation and damage.

How do I use moulds to make anti-shrink slabs?

Using ABS plastic moulds to make shrinkproof boards can produce products with high precision and durability. Here are the basic steps for using the moulds:

  • Preparation of the mould: before pouring the concrete, make sure that the mould is clean and dry. To prevent the material from sticking, it is recommended to treat the inside of the mould with a special lubricant or silicone spray.
  • Pouring the concrete: the prepared concrete is poured into the mould. It is important to ensure even distribution of the mixture, avoiding the formation of voids or bubbles. This can be done using a vibrating table or by manually shaking the mould.
  • Curing: After pouring, the mould must remain stationary until the concrete has fully cured. Curing time may vary depending on temperature and humidity, but usually takes 24-48 hours.
  • Removing the slab: after the concrete has hardened, carefully remove the slab from the mould. The ABS plastic moulds are highly flexible, making it easy to remove without damaging the product.
  • Further processing: if required, the board can be further processed, e.g. painted or coated with a protective coating.

Advantages of using ABS moulds

The use of ABS plastic moulds for the production of anti-shrink boards has several important advantages:

  • Durability: ABS plastic is highly durable and resistant to environmental influences, allowing the moulds to be used repeatedly without losing their properties.
  • Easy to use: ABS moulds are easy to clean and handle, simplifying the production process.
  • Cost-effective: repeated use of the moulds reduces the cost of production of the slabs, making them more profitable to manufacture.

Observance of all stages of the manufacturing process and correct operation of the moulds guarantee the successful creation of shrinkproof slabs that will serve reliably for many years.
